"I chose the Rites of Passage program because I wanted to have the chance to experience the things that you offer to us and I'm excited about exploring new things in the world."
-Xavier

Dear Community,
Join our movement and help Gifts of Hope reach a goal of raising $46,400 for our Rites of Passage Youth Program. We are dedicated to empowering and improving the lives of youth through a 22 week Program (20 instructional weeks and a 2-week journey to Ghana).
During the intensive 22 Week Program, students take a self discovery journey in which they will find the truth of who they are as well as their connection to Africa. They will begin by taking a DNA test via African Ancestry which will help them find those missing pieces of their identity. The youth will then study the evolution of Africa, global awareness, leadership development, financial literacy, lessons from nature, fitness and nutrition, the art of thinking, building a champion mentality, community service and leaving a legacy. Our Rites of Passage Instructor will facilitate weekly 2.5 hour sessions for 10 boys and 10 girls between the ages of 15 and 18.
At the end of the program, we will take our youth on a 2 week journey (August 11th - 26th, 2023) to Ghana. This trip will be anchored in the history, heritage, and culture of Ghana. Our itinerary led by T. Barnes Global Travel will take us through Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast. Our youth will also participate in a wide range of enrichment activities from learning traditional Batik Fabric Making, visiting historical sites as well as activites honoring our African Ancestors who were taken from the shores of West Africa many years ago. We will also be visiting private and public schools in Ghana. These visits coordinated with local teachers, will give us the chance to trade knowledge and experience with our counterparts in education, both imparting and coming away with tactics in the international fight for education justice. We will also engage in direct service by donating school supplies to the schools we visit. In effort to support the local economy these supplies will be purchased in Accra and presented directly to the teachers and students upon arrival.
Measurable ROP Program Outcomes:
- Self Discovery/ Reflection
- Increased Self Confidence and Knowledge
- Financial Literacy
- College Readiness
- Healthy Eating & Thinking
- Increased Service to the Community
- Higher expectations of future success
We are extending this invitation to the community. If you, your family or your business would be interested in helping our youth to cover the cost for their passports or the trip, feel free to email us at info@givinggiftsofhope.org
